Your Expertise Deserves More Than Self-Publishing
A professional path for nonfiction authors ready to turn their expertise into a professionally published book.
Trusted by serious authors seeking professional publication and global distribution.
Indigo River Publishing partners with nonfiction authors to professionally produce and distribute books that build authority, credibility, and lasting impact. We make your book available through major retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and more.
Professional Publishing Standards
Selected manuscripts move through a comprehensive publishing process including editorial refinement, professional design, production management, and market positioning.
Global Distribution
Our titles are distributed through Simon & Schuster and Ingram Lightning Source and made available to major retailers worldwide, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, independent bookstores, and library systems.
Selective Author Partnerships
We review each manuscript submission carefully and work with authors committed to producing high-quality, market-ready books designed for long-term impact.
A Publishing Partnership Built for Nonfiction Authors
Traditional publishers take all the financial risk — which means they control everything: your cover, your timeline, your marketing, and often your message. Self-publishing gives you full control, but none of the credibility that comes with a real publishing imprint.
Indigo River is a hybrid publisher. Authors we select co-invest in production alongside us. In return, you receive the full infrastructure of a professional publishing house — editorial, design, distribution, and marketing — plus something traditional publishing rarely offers: a team as invested in your book’s long-term performance as you are.
For nonfiction authors, a professionally published book is more than a product. It is a credibility asset that opens doors to speaking engagements, media opportunities, corporate partnerships, and expanded coaching or consulting programs. We build with that in mind.
What your partnership includes:
- Full editorial support — developmental, line, and copy editing
- Professional, custom cover design and interior layout
- National retail distribution — Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, independent bookstores, and libraries
- Global distribution through Ingram/Lightning Source and Simon & Schuster
- Foreign rights opportunities
- Proven marketing strategies and one-on-one pre/post launch support
- Industry-leading royalty rates — significantly higher than traditional deals
- You retain your rights. Always.
We are selective. Not every manuscript is the right fit, and not every author is ready for this level of partnership.
About Indigo River — Please Read Before Submitting
Indigo River Publishing is a hybrid publisher. Authors we accept invest alongside our team in the cost of bringing their book to market. In return, you keep your rights, earn higher royalties than a traditional deal offers, and get a full publishing team — editorial, design, national distribution, and marketing — committed to your book’s long-term success.
While we do offer traditional publishing deals, those are reserved for existing IRP authors and selective acquisitions. Manuscripts submitted through this form are evaluated for our hybrid publishing model.
If you’re looking exclusively for a traditional advance-only deal, or you want to publish entirely on your own, this isn’t the right fit. If you’re a serious author with a completed nonfiction manuscript and you’re prepared to partner in publishing it well — we’d like to read your work.
Submit Your Nonfiction Manuscript
We review a limited number of completed manuscripts from authors aligned with our publishing standards, production expectations, and long-term vision.
We only accept completed, full-length manuscripts. We do not review proposals, partial drafts, outlines, or works in progress. If your manuscript is not yet finished, please bookmark this page and return when it’s complete. Estimated completion time: 5–7 minutes.

★★★★★
The Indigo River team has been accessible, communicative, and supportive every step along the way since our relationship began years ago. Everyone I worked with clearly believed in my project, had my best interest at heart, and took the time to give me personalized and accurate guidance and information, as well as answers to all my questions before, during and after publishing. I would highly recommend partnering with IRP!

What Happens After You Submit?
Editorial Review
Our editorial team carefully reviews your manuscript, submission details, and overall market positioning. We evaluate craft, clarity, audience alignment, and long-term publishing viability.
Every submission is reviewed individually. We do not use automated screening tools.
Fit & Conversation
If your project aligns with our publishing standards and vision, a member of our team will reach out to schedule a conversation. This is an opportunity to discuss your goals, expectations, timeline, and whether we are the right publishing partner for your work.
Not every strong manuscript is the right fit — alignment matters.
Next Steps
Selected projects move into our formal publishing process, where we outline scope, expectations, production stages, and partnership structure in detail.
If your manuscript is not selected, you may still hear from us with guidance or alternative recommendations when appropriate.
