About The Book

“…a rollicking tale sure to delight fans of nautical adventures.” — Erik Carter, Amazon Author

“A captivating tale of adventure in the South China Sea reminiscent of Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy.” — Chris Dewey, MA, RPA (Lieutenant Commander, USN Ret.), Author of Deep Context and President of the Maritime Archaeological Society

Joseph Havok has no idea of the troubles he’ll face when he and his business partner decide to follow up on a rumor and go off in search of a lost cache of WWII silver near an island in the South China Sea. The two men travel by dive boat to Terumbu Island, unaware of the others they will soon encounter, including an American CIA station chief, an environmental-studies professor, and the captain of the professor’s research vessel. But Terumbu holds other secrets‍, something far more dangerous and much more valuable than the island’s cache of old silver.

Nicholai Anisimova, a former Russian army intelligence officer, is the leader of a group of dissatisfied comrades who threaten international order in their quest to transform Siberia into a new Russia. However, in order to purchase arms and equipment to begin their revolution and occupation of Siberia, the group will need money. To finance the recovery of resources from a sunken Japanese submarine, Anisimova secures the sponsorship of a Chinese industrialist who does not trust the Russians and decides to monitor the recovery himself.

Havok and his partner soon find themselves involved in a conflict, refereed by an unknown, seldom-seen island hermit that escalates into a bitter struggle between survivors and pirates. What begins as a simple holiday for two men on a treasure hunt ends with a far-ranging battle that spills beyond the borders of the South China Sea, embroiling world leaders and placing the population of a nation at risk.

About The Author

Wayne Abrahamson, originally from Elroy, Wisconsin, spent twenty-four years in the US Navy, serving aboard a number of vessels, including destroyers and the elite Special Boat Squadrons. While in the Navy, he qualified as a private pilot, parachute jumper, and divemaster (PADI). After retiring from service, he qualified as a master scuba diver (NAUI) and earned several undergraduate and graduate degrees in anthropology and history. Abrahamson is now an adjunct college instructor in Pensacola, Florida, and spends his free time traveling to the Caribbean and Latin America. While his first novel, Black Silver, is based on his previous experiences in the South China Sea and Southeast Asia, he now uses his travels to the Caribbean and Latin America as inspirations for future writing projects, to include action-adventure novels and works of historical fiction.

Reviews

Black Silver delivers the fun readers should expect from an action/adventure novel. There’s treasure and seaplanes and sinister foes on a forgotten island. Sunken ships. Innocent people in danger. Oh, and an unconventionally dashing hero. Everything the genre demands for a good time. This is a book for those rainy afternoons or sunny beach days when you have the time to be carried away. Havok and Stone are a great pair, and I hope they return.”

– Regina Sakalarios-Rogers, Ph.D., Instructor & Intern Coordinator, Department of English, University

“Lover’s of impeccably researched historical fiction will feel very at home in the world that Abrahamson creates. This maritime adventure lacks nothing! It is a well-developed suspenseful journey to the very last page!

– Miriam Hoover, Office Administrator, University of West Florida, English Department

What a thrilling read! Not only is the book a fun time, but the author’s use of detail, bulked up with personal experience and knowledge, creates a book dripping with authenticity. The only concern: when is the author’s next book coming out. Can’t wait!”

– Kendra Kennedy, Senior Archaeologist

A suspenseful tale of adventure that transports readers into a world of spies, business tycoons, Russian commandos, and the tortured innocent. Abrahamson’s excellent use of technical details trickled throughout the storyline provides for an authenticity that makes the reader believe the author writes from personal life experiences while mixed in with a fantastic imagination. The main character, Havok, is a fun, yet serious and dynamic character who thwarts challenges at every turn providing for a journey of adventure, intrigue, and betrayal. Once the reader thinks the action has come full circle, the ever-evolving storyline throws you right back into another jaunt until the very end!”

– Siska Williams, Senior Archaeologist

“Wayne Abrahamson has crafted a captivating tale of adventure in the South China Sea. Havok and Stone find their way through unexpected turns as their quest for sunken treasure leads them into an international struggle for other hidden commodities. Abrahamson develops his characters well and entwines them in believable plots that are interesting and well written. His style is reminiscent of Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, and Randy Wayne White. I look forward to reading his next novel.”
